This grand yet welcoming house is perfect for those occasions when you want to get together – a seaside holiday with extended family or a reunion with friends to celebrate an anniversary.
The Mount is an ideal base for exploring this part of Dorset, but there is lots to see and do in the immediate vicinity. If you like walking, there are some fantastic scenic routes from the front door along the SW Coast Path, along the chalk ridge to Corfe or via Old Harry Rocks to the wild beaches at Studland. Swanage is a 10-minute walk for everything you need, great cafes, restaurants and fish & chips. Once you've settled in, it is perfectly possible to leave the car on the drive for the duration of your stay.
Room to relax
With seven bedrooms, three large reception rooms and plenty of space for 7-14 adult guests (up to 16 guests including children), The Mount has been used to celebrate special birthdays, hosted theatre groups rehearsing plays, and provided comfortable accommodation for guests of couples getting married at nearby Durlston Castle. Grandparents have enjoyed a week away with their children and grandchildren, with room to eat and play together and space enough to relax.
Enjoyment all round
The Mount sits in a prominent position in Swanage in the stunning Isle of Purbeck. The town's sandy beaches, cafes, restaurants and pubs are a lovely walk downhill one way, while in the other direction the dramatic cliffs of the Jurassic Coast and the rare fauna and flora of Durlston await. The house itself is surrounded by a large garden hidden behind stone walls and bay hedges, and there's a music room and a full-size pool table inside.
